How do you get over the fear of creativity?

Creativity can be intimidating. Being a creative person can be daunting at times. Even the most professional of the creatives go through art blocks.

This is the part of the process. This is how it is for all of us.

Being an artist or a designer or a crafting person, you need to understand a few things.

Be a beginner:

More often than not, we try to jump to the professional level, without fully understanding the basics and how important they are to have a firm grasp on our art journey. You can’t start reading without knowing the alphabets and word formation. The same goes for art and creativity. The stronger your basics are the stronger your creative game will be.

Learn the color wheel. Make the color charts. Learn the techniques. Try doing the same thing in different ways with a different approach. The possibilities are endless and way too exciting to ignore.

Failure is a part of growth:

You can not be a pro until you fail multiple times.

I have a stack of paintings that I failed at. I have a cabinet full of projects that never worked out. Does that make me any less of a creative? No! With those failed paintings and failed craft projects, I now know so many things that don’t work out. I now know the colors that create mud. I now know the perfect adhesives and paints and things that work together.

I have made it a habit of naming the failed projects as “experiments”. If you fail at something, you now know a certain way that doesn’t work out. Failure is very important in the growth process as a professional. There is not a single person on this planet that has not failed at something at some point in their lives.

Give your self enough space to make mistakes and learn from them.

Trying to be perfect:

Perfection doesn’t exist! Awesome exists, but perfection doesn’t. So there is no point in trying to achieve it.

However, working daily on your art will make you more at ease with your creativity. I often get asked about how can I manage to pull off a quick sketch or a quick painting. It was never this easy when I was studying in art school. It took years of daily practice and being in a constant learning phase that has got me to a point that I can now pull of a sketch in 4 minutes.

So, work daily on your creativity. It doesn’t matter how much or how less of time you are able to give as long as you are doing something creative everyday.

If you can’t think of anything to draw or paint, try doing the same painting in a different color scheme or technique. Try doing the same painting on different papers.

As a creative person, go out often. Explore your surroundings, get inspired by nature, architecture, people. Take pictures, do quick 1 minute sketches. Take your paints outside and paint plein air.

Collect rocks and twigs and seashells or anything that clicks with you. Bring them home and draw them. Inspiration is everywhere, you just need to be observant.

Don’t be afraid:

One thing for certain is that if you want to be creative, you need to be brave. Creativity takes courage and lots of it!

Don’t be afraid to experiment.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Don’t be afraid to try new things.

Don’t be afraid of getting out of your comfort zone and challenging yourself.

How will you know you can’t do a certain thing if you never try?

And at the end, enjoy your creative process. Keep a sketchbook with you at all times. Get inspired and do something creative everyday. Remember… even if you fail … you can always start over again.

Do you have anything more to add to this list?.. I’d love to hear from you !

Take care and have a beautiful day !

Love card….

Hey there!

Happy Tuesday! I have been working on a few cards and other projects, which will be uploaded as soon as I finish them. Today I have a more fancier card to show. I finished it last night and I loved the way it was glimmering in the dim light.

The black polka dotted paper I used is all glitter. Again the wordings were cut from a red metallic paper and the flower has a bit of red glitter on it too.

The size is a bit smaller than the earlier card and it looks just perfect!

Coming up next are a variety of other projects… so pay a visit again soon.

Till then,

Take care and have a glittery day!

Wedding favor sticky notes…

Hey there!

Happy Monday!

By now it must be obvious that my brain never sleeps. This goes for my studio too.

Today was a happening day at Peach n Lime studio because it’s December and winter vacations are coming up. This means Christmas, weddings, New year are all just around the corner. I have been so busy working on orders that I am not getting a chance to take pictures of what I am working on. This picture that I am about to show you is proof!

By the time I realized that I had to take a picture, it was getting dark in the room. So please bear with it. I tried brightening up the picture, I hope it does justice.

Today I spent my day making wedding favors. I used foiled paper and embossed the hearts and used a sparkly ribbon known as ‘Gota’ in Urdu.

The colors are typical Pakistani and Indian bridal colors. The more blingy it is the merrier! hehehe

So, what do you think?

I still have a few more to make…. so please excuse me.

More crafts and ideas will be coming up…Stay tuned!

Till then

Have a bling-y day !

Mini Canvases..

Hey there!

Happy Friday! The weather is so so beautiful here in Riyadh, It rained all night and at the moment it is a nice kind of chilly. A perfect weather to have coffee at the terrace!

But the craft room cannot be left on its own. There is a lot to be done. So even though it’s beautiful outside, I am in my room… crafting. I love it… Coffee and tea in the evening for sure!

Worked more on the canvases… and this is what I have to show you today.

I can not tell you how much I loved making them . I used acrylic paints to paint on them and then my favorite paper flowers and of course…. GLITTER!!!!

Making more of these beauties. Will show them in a couple of days.

Till then

Have an awesome weekend.

Quilled Accents…

Hey there!

Happy Tuesday to you all! I hope you all are feeling as crafty as I am!

I am very fond of wreaths and I think if you come home tired after a long day at work and you are greeted with that many flowers or a nicely decorated front door… it instantly lifts up your mood…doesn’t it?

Soo… I took two things I adore. Quilling and wreaths… and tried playing around with the idea and this is what I came up with…

Mini wreaths..

So now I am thinking to use them as accents for greeting cards or little table decor or gift tags.

I am full of new ideas for these little beauties and I can’t wait to get started on more of these.

Till then

Take care and have a creative day!

Crochet time!

Hey there!

Finally after a long break I have managed to enter my craft room and start working on new projects.

I have started a new water color painting as well as crocheting a bed runner. The pattern I am using is from anabeliahandmade.blogspot.com.au

The blog I am referring to is an awesome blog! Do check it out! It has beautiful patterns and crocheted accessories!

And here is my attempt…

I am still in the process of making hundreds of them and then they will all be joined together to make a full bed runner!

I am so excited to do this as it is a very simple design and quick to make.

So what do you think? 😀

Don’t forget to comment !

Till then

Take care and have a glittery, sparkly and creative day!
